This policy outlines AlphaBEST’s standardized process for handling situations where there is reasonable suspicion that a team member may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on duty. The process ensures concerns are handled consistently, respectfully, and in compliance with company policy.

When This Policy Applies
This policy applies when a manager observes specific, factual behaviors that may indicate impairment during work hours. Actions must be based on direct observation, not assumptions or hearsay.
Manager Responsibilities (Quick Summary)
If reasonable suspicion arises, the Site Director or Manager must:

Speak with the team member in a private location

Keep the team member on site

Contact HR immediately for guidance

Document only observable behaviors

Follow HR direction exactly
Testing & Outcomes

HR determines whether testing is required and orders the test.

The team member receives testing instructions via email.

The team member is suspended pending results.

Negative result: Return to work with paid suspension time.

Positive result or refusal: Employment ends per policy.
