About Kids Included Together

Kids Included Together, or KIT, is AlphaBEST’s partner for specialized inclusion support.

KIT helps AlphaBEST team members identify practical strategies for supporting students who may need additional assistance participating successfully in the program.

Through the partnership, AlphaBEST employees can receive guidance from inclusion specialists who understand out-of-school-time programs and can recommend strategies that fit the student, site, and program environment. 

KIT specialists may provide guidance related to:

  • Communication and transitions
  • Sensory or behavioral needs
  • Activity and environment adjustments
  • Consistent support strategies for team members

When to Use KIT

KIT support is generally requested when Tier 2 strategies have been implemented but the student continues to need additional support.

Before requesting KIT support, follow the steps in the main accommodations process, including meeting with the parent or guardian, documenting concerns, and trying the recommended Tier 2 strategies.

What Happens Next

A KIT specialist will meet with the appropriate AlphaBEST team members, review the information provided, and recommend strategies to try.

Team members should:

  • Implement the strategies consistently.
  • Use them for the recommended amount of time.
  • Document the student’s response.
  • Continue communicating with the parent or guardian.
  • Follow up with the Accommodations Team when needed.

Important: KIT provides consultation and strategy recommendations. KIT does not diagnose students or make final enrollment decisions.
